Education:
I am currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Kansas, with an emphasis on fiction writing. I hold a BA from Kansas State University in English (Creative Writing) and Spanish, with minors in history and nonprofit leadership and a linguistics certificate. While at K-State, I served on the leadership boards for student organizations focusing on English, Spanish, international students, the environment, and more. I also graduated from the Honors Program and was a member of various honor societies.
About Me
Work Experience:
I have worked with students from pre-K through graduate school as an English teacher, teaching assistant, ELL para, substitute teacher, and study abroad leader. From March-December 2022, I worked as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at a university in Lima, Peru. I have also worked as an administrative assistant, in an archives, and in the food service and customer service industries. I have volunteer experience working as a poetry editor and with nonprofits focusing on animal welfare, immigration, and other causes. For more information, please see my LinkedIn page.
Interests/Hobbies:
In my free time, I like to read, write, bake, craft, and spend time with friends and family (including my cats). I also enjoy traveling, experiencing new cultures, and meeting new people. And I am always on the hunt for new and interesting desserts!
Skills:
I speak Spanish with full professional proficiency and am skilled in intercultural communication. I am also skilled in writing, editing, and research. I have experience in public speaking, event planning, and lesson planning. I hold a Fundamentals of TESOL certificate. I am proficient in programs such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Drive, Google Classroom, Canvas, Wix, WordPress, Submittable, and Canva.
